In the summer of 2014, SunServe received a call from a lesbian couple with two children about wanting a safe place to celebrate their Caribbean heritage; the couple had recently attended a Jamaican Independence Day event in West Broward only to have fellow guests use anti-gay slurs against them and even throw bottles at a gay, male friend they had taken with them to the event. Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning individuals with ancestry in the Caribbean Islands deserve a place to celebrate their identity. To meet this need, SunServe decided to create the annual LGBT Caribbean Pride Festival!
This year’s LGBT Caribbean Pride Festival will take place in the heart of Wilton Manors at Richardson Park on May 28th from 4-9PM, located at 1937 Wilton Drive. The festival will include performances from various artists representing different Caribbean cultures. There will be family friendly activities, vendor booths, food trucks, live music, dancing, an in-park mini parade, and much more!
Food Trucks expected to attend include Caribbean Connection and InspirAsian
