Jetblue Offers Hot Meals to Neighbors and First Responders (Sept. 13)

JetBlue — the busiest airline at the recently re-opened Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport — announced it would provide hot meals from 20 food trucks at the BB&T Center in Sunrise on Wednesday. Lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner will be available from 4-7 p.m., with JetBlue saying in a statement the meals are available to neighbors and first responders. Here’s what the Miami Herald has to say:

If you put up a sweaty arm, you’re probably tired of eating Hurricane Irma rations as well.

On Wednesday, at least, JetBlue Airways and the Florida Panthers are coming to the rescue.

Over a dozen food trucks will descend on the BB&T Center in Sunrise offering free hot and cold food offerings from some of the top mobile chefs in South Florida.

Hurricane Irma Update from JetBlue Blog dated Sept. 12, 2:00 p.m.

We are working closely with local authorities to determine airport conditions and ramp up flights in cities impacted by Hurricane Irma. We have cancelled approximately 450 flights today through Friday as airports come online and we move our crews and aircraft back to Florida. We are planning to resume some flights in our Florida cities starting Tuesday, Sept. 12 as we work up to our full schedule in Florida by end of week. Additional cancellations may still be possible as infrastructure is evaluated.

While we continue to work to re-accommodate customers with previously cancelled JetBlue flights, any remaining seats for Florida flights departing through Sept. 18 are available on jetblue.com at a reduced fare of $99 for direct flights and $159 for connecting flights. Fares are for one-way flights with seat availability through Sept. 18 in select markets including CHS, DAB, FLL, JAX, MCO, PBI, RSW, SAV, SRQ, and TPA. We will update markets and dates available as conditions change.

For customers with existing scheduled flights, JetBlue continues to waive cancellation fees as well as waiving change fees and differences in air fare for rebooking. Details on these waivers can be found at https://www2.jetblue.com/JetblueAlerts/WeatherUpdate.aspx
