Monthly Artwalk in Downtown Fort Lauderdale

On January 31st, 2015, the first of the monthly Flagler Artwalk events in 2015 occurring in downtown Fort Lauderdale will commence, taking place in Flagler Village at the FATVillage & MASS District hubs, plus Nearby Locations. Flagler Artwalk Flagler Village, Fort Lauderdale, FL: FATVillage + MASS District & Nearby Locations The Creative Arts are exploding in the Flagler Village neighborhood and surrounding areas of Fort Lauderdale nearby. The FATVillage & NE 3rd Avenue Arts Districts in Flagler Village have sparked an increased awareness of the arts, especially via their monthly & annual artwalk events. The Flagler Artwalk event is now in place with a focus to strengthen that energy, providing a neighborhoods­wide Artwalk that ties the FATVillage, MASS District, and nearby participating areas together using trollies, security, printed & digital collateral, and security ­ Every last Saturday of the month.

MASS District

(NE 3rd Avenue at NE 8th Street – NE 4th Avenue from NE 8th Street to Flagler Drive)

The newly formed MASS District (Music & Arts South of Sunrise) gives the creative scene around the north end of the Flagler Village neighborhood a distinct identity, building on the foundation set by Arts Districts established in Fort Lauderdale. This months event on January 31st is our first of the year. Canvas films will be hosting a food truck court featuring El Orgullo, Latin Kitchen, Ipek’s Kitchen and Main Stop Grill. Dekkagon is hosting its soft opening with Veggie Xpress parked in front. Art Attack is hosting a show called Two Two One showcasing local photographer & abstract artist Zander Brant and Travis Smith (urban plexiglass artist from Orlando). Music lineups consist of local musician Mark Knick, Cult Love, Rosalia Curbelo, Sonia Baez Hernandez all performing in one night. Also Jrs. Big Dogs will be at Jump The Shark during their Moranlevi and Voo La Voo food truck will be in front of The Great Project which is across from Mac Fine Art, with their “Who Keeps the Dog” exhibition as Glavovic Studio will be displaying their redo_GlavovicStudio exhibition, Art & Decor Solutions will have art & framing on display, and Stellar Photography Studios will be putting on a photography & light clinic. Nearby locations feature the Girls’ Club with Bruno’s food truck, as this venue is showcasing their One Acts series also with nearby Tin Ly & Mary Lou Shieker Studios open to display recent work. FATVillage Arts District

(North Andrews Avenue at NW 5th Street – Northwest 1st Avenue from NW 6th Street to NW 4th Street)

Located in the heart of Flagler Village, FATVillage is located in a 1950’s warehouse district and is home to a variety of creative businesses, artist studios and galleries. FATVillage Artwalk is held the last Saturday night of each month except December from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Visitors are invited to stroll more than a block of galleries featuring guest artists, open artist’s studios, prop warehouse, and even enjoy a street show or a play in FATVillage’s black box theatre or performance theatre. The Projects, a 10,000 square foot warehouse, hosts large curated installations featuring local, national, and international artists. Enjoy a variety of food trucks and C & I’s Next Door for a drink. Arts & Entertainment District

“The Nature of Things” – Art Exhibit opening at 1310 Gallery plus open studios. 7pm ­11pm. Free to the public event reception includes music, food and Exhibition features the work of Sylvain Denis (Shows Curator and Photographer), Barry Gross (Painter), Israel Ghelman (Sculptor), Niko Yulis (Drawings). Plus residents open studios. 1310 Gallery is an artist­run collective that offers over 3000 square feet of exhibition space split into 3 levels, and housed within ArtSpace’s (live/work facility) Sailboat Bend Artist Lofts, in a historic area of downtown Ft Lauderdale. 1310 Gallery is an artist run collective that rotates art exhibitions monthly. The Gallery is open by appointment in addition to the opening and closing receptions.

Midtown

(NW 6th Street/Sistrunk Blvd – Along Sistrunk Corridor)

The BEC Gallery (1033 NW 6th Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311) will be featuring its final showing of a 3 month exhibit titled ‘Sunset’ for artist Will Simpson. With signature cocktails (Sunset Punch and Red Sunset) being served at the close of this exhibit, 25% of all art sales will go towards to the new Art Hub programing in the community. The Midtown Art Gallery (547 NW 9th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311) featuring Mark Cameron with their Art Fusion show bringing Mark’s talent of fine arts & culinary skills to the newly extended Flagler Artwalk, showcasing his art on canvas.
