Old Town Untapped

Old Town Untapped is a monthly craft beer and arts festival hosted by the Pompano Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and features free samples of craft beers made by local breweries. The streets surrounding Bailey Contemporary Arts (BaCA) will be lined with food trucks, artists, crafters, live music and interactive art. Inside BaCA, guests can grab some locally roasted coffee at Blooming Bean Coffee Shop and walk through the galleries rotating art exhibits each month.

Highlights this month include:

  • Untapped DJ Mike Locke at the fountain plaza
  • Live Music by Rockin Jake
  • Local Craft Brewers Offering Free Samples
  • Bailey Contemporary Arts‘s artist in residence, Todd The Painter will be live painting for us in the fountain plaza
  • Fountains of Fire contingent on the wind but there will be a water/light show every half hour starting at 7

Food Truck Friday Fat Village

C&I Studios invites you to chow down with them and all the neighboring businesses of FAT Village each and every Friday in support of different local charitable organizations.   Favorite food trucks will occupy “The Garden” every Friday starting at 11am to serve their finest portable cuisine and help put a spotlight on local non-profit heroes who are actively working to make our communities a better place to live. Enjoy a tasty meal and help make the world a better place!

Spotlight on HANDY

HANDY’s goal is to provide customized programs that meet the individual needs of a child that take them from early childhood to adulthood. Since 1985, HANDY has transformed the lives of over 50,000 children and family members in Broward County. Each year, HANDY serves over 1,200 individuals per year. This includes youth ages nine-25, family members and caregivers in Broward County. Our award winning LIFE Program focuses on education, youth development and economic self-sufficiency. All youth receive assessments, academic planning and evaluations, case management, counseling and academic support. Program activities include tutoring, mentoring, social and recreational activities, emergency needs assistance for food, clothing, housing, education workshops, life skills training, post-secondary educational support, connection to internships, assistance with job placement, service learning projects and self-advocacy.

Dancing in the Streets

The City of Oakland Park hosts a mile long block party from Jaco Pastorius Park to Oakland Park Boulevard (on 12th Avenue) on Friday, April 28 from 6 to 10pm . The monthly “Music on Main Street” event has been amped-up to include nine live bands, including acoustic guitar performers, funk, jazz, top 40, country, rock, salsa, merengue, and tropical music. A lineup of Food Trucks will be on hand for good eats, and local downtown Oakland Park businesses will host family-friendly activities such as soccer kick with Americas Got Soccer, paint your own Picasso at TRAX Art Studios, Hair art designs by Dick’s Service Station, create your own garden art with Pride Pottery Store, and get your body art on with henna tattoos at Tatts and Tacos.
